Hairlarious Dog Tails with Sharon Kleve

Hairlarious Dog Tails

SRK Productions, December 6, 2020,107 pp
Amazon $1.99 and Print $20.33

About the Book
Hairlarious Dog Tails is full of tantalizing trivia and tidbits, doggy-puns, and plenty of puppy facts, this dog-o-pedia is essential reading for dog lovers everywhere. You'll learn about all sorts of dogs, breeds, characters, and more!

It’s a beautiful tabletop book packed with amazing photographs and fun facts, dog owners and fans will get an in-depth look at these curious, lovable canines.

Paws up if you love everything about dogs, from their irrepressible cheeriness to their slobbery tongues.

My review
Similar to its companion “cat tails” book released in November of 2020, Hairlarious Dog Tails offers fun facts, gorgeous photos, and personal memories of the canine contingency of pets. From doggy IQs to that special ability to hunt a specific scent, to several pages of Doggy Puns sure to make you howl with giggles (I’m guilty of using dog-gone-it a lot; my favorite is “Happy Howlidays.”)

Included with the lovely photographs of every type of pooch possible are fun quotes from Marilyn Monroe and Groucho Marx to Mark Twain and Charles DeGaulle (“The better I get to know men…”).

If you want to know what it means when a dog wags its tail to the right, play a new family trivia game at your next gathering, or just become smarter, get this luscious book.

Sharon Kleve was born and raised in Washington and currently lives on the Olympic Peninsula with her husband and two cats. When not writing, and working full-time, she can usually be found either curled up in her recliner with her cats and a good book or in the kitchen making baking sourdough bread or bagels.

Sharon is a multi-published author of contemporary romance published in eBook, paperback, on audio and translated into foreign languages. She has written New Adult and Romantic Suspense, but what brings her the most joy is writing Romantic Comedies.

She loves giving her characters the happily ever after they deserve--with a few laughs and maybe a few bumps and bruises along the way.

Hairlarious Cat Tails with Sharon Kleve

Hairlarious Cat Tails
SRK Productions, November 18, 2020,108 pp
Amazon $1.99 and Print $20.33

About the Book
Hairlarious Cat Tails makes a beautiful table top book filled with creative insights and beautiful images. It provides a much-desired glimpse into the minds of our most mysterious of loved ones--cats.

What makes cats climb into tiny spaces? Why do they sleep that much? And, most of all, how can we give them a good life? They may seem low-maintenance but thoughtfulness about where you put their water, how warm or cool they like to be, what name to choose and how to groom them properly will make a life-changing difference.

With understanding, affection and respect, your cat will be healthier and very content. I don’t know about you, but that makes me very happy…

My review

From the calming, healing effect of a cat’s purr to the hunting instinct to terrible puns (my favorite is “hiss”terical), Kleve’s very sweet picture book of cats will surely please all feline fans.

Essentially a coffee table book in print, lovely photographs accompany fun facts, cat commentary, and pithy sayings such as “Time spent with cats is never wasted.” Allergies? You might be surprised to learn about an intriguing study from the National Institutes of Health.

This is a surefire fun book especially for family trivia night, or simply to spout a fact to impress your friends or colleague. Thoroughly enjoyable and great gift.

And many more

Lisa Lickel's Review
Wow, this is a great little book! I rarely get excited about non-fiction, but Kimberley Payne’s fitness books are packed with great advice and practical tips. Get the Skinny is an excellent addition. Filled with common-sense information and personal observation, Payne truly does answer, realistically, questions many of us feel too stupid to ask, or didn’t realize there was even an option.

Some of my favorites are about how muscle turns to fat when we age and stop working out (it doesn’t), and whether walking with weights makes a difference (it does but probably not in the way you think). Why can’t I spot-reduce, and how to buy a sports bra—just great advice, backed not just by the most reputable medical research results, but experience. Personally, I’m more likely to follow tips by someone who’s walking the walk; not just telling me how, but explaining why. Get the Skinny is a practical guide for today’s practical lifestyle choices.

Cuban Christian reflections by Roberto Ornan Roche

The Lighthouse of Asaph
Roberto Ornan Roche

The Lighthouse of Asaph: Unforgettable Christian Reflections

Every year, with the arrival of terrible and threatening hurricanes to the Caribbean, I lose both sleep and joy, fearing that the strong winds might destroy the trees that my father planted almost forty years ago. Already some have been blown down, but others remain, and these trees are among my fondest memories of him. I can recall many occasions when my mother and I were by the door, praying, while the destructive winds outside continued to roar.

When I think of such things, I feel that our faith is like those trees, nurtured by other people. At the same time, new trees are starting to grow, like fresh ideals and good deeds, and perhaps some of these spring up from the seeds that have been stored in those old, demolished trees.

The most important thing in my book is always to discover a new way to rescue faith in the midst of the pain that exists all around.

My review
It’s refreshing and energizing to read about the development of a faith life from a different perspective, one that comes from a different culture in another arena. I am too comfortable in my lifestyle and I need to step outside that zone on occasion to truly appreciate what I have been given.

Roche’s joy, fear, and desire to grow and practice his faith glow from the pages. Told through anecdotes, personal revelation, stories of meeting people on the streets where they are, and reflections on Bible verses and stories, such as that of Job (Our Job does not have a story to be told because we spend all day long rejecting it.), The Lighthouse of Asaph will give Christian readers pause. Am I living to my potential where I am, here and now? Roche will help you answer that question as you walk with him in his life as a Cuban Christian living in a land that long despaired yet retained pockets of joy.

Roberto Ornan RocheAbout the Author

Roberto Ornan Roche, a Christian writer from Cuba, is an internationally recognized author with stories published in English and Spanish. His book, A Lighthouse of Asaph, is a story collection capturing the emotions and longings of a Cuban heart. The stories were written in an attempt to reconcile the author’s life of faith with a society that discourages it. Born out of fear and sadness, sadness from praying for dreams that were never realized, A Lighthouse of Asaph is a book to encourage you and help you find meaning in your circumstances.

Inspirational nonFiction for Couples from Dana Rongione

Introducing a new book from author Dana Rongione

What Happened To Prince Charming?
Understanding What To Do When You No Longer Know the Man You're Married To

About the Book:
My heart crumbled as this lovely young wife and mother told me of her struggling marriage and desire for a divorce. For as long as I had known her, she had dreamed of getting married and starting a family. When she met Mr. Right, the glow on her face outshone the sun, and when she found out she was expecting their first baby, it seemed like she had discovered her perfect place in life. So, what happened? It wasn't so long ago that she was singing the praises of her Prince Charming, but now it seems that all she can do is utter complaints about her Elmer Fudd. What made the change, and is divorce the only solution?

Unfortunately, her story is all too familiar, and her pain rings true in the hearts of hundreds (if not thousands) of women across the globe. What is a wife to do when she no longer recognizes the man she married? Within this book, you'll find the answer to that question along with Scriptural advice on making the most of your marriage.

When you tied the knot, you made a promise to love your husband for better or for worse. I want to help you keep that promise!

A brief Q & A with Dana

Why I wrote the book:
Honestly, the Lord has been teaching me so many things in my own marriage that I felt compelled to share the knowledge with others. We wives are quick to judge our husbands based on how much they've changed since we met them. Gone are the days of wooing and trying to win our affection. Instead, in our eyes, they have become couch potatoes or “good for nothings” that are only interested in one part of the relationship:  the physical part. These issues have led to frustration and arguments in more marriages than I can count. When I first began praying about these issues in my own life and the bitterness I was feeling toward my husband, I had hopes that the Lord would change my man back into the Prince Charming he was twenty years ago. But instead of changing my man, the Lord changed me and helped me to realize that many of the issues were because of me not my husband. It was a hard lesson to hear, but I'm so glad the Lord dealt with me and helped me to see the light. Now, my goal is to help other women see it as well.

Who is the book for?
The book is intended for married women of any age, but there's a lot of information in it about relationships in general that anyone could glean from.

What do I want readers to take away from this book?
I guess the main thing I want them to understand is that their marriage is not doomed. There is still hope to have a “happily ever after” if they're willing to do what it takes to make the marriage work. I also want wives of all ages to know that these marriage issues are normal and that they're not the only ones wondering what happened to their Prince Charming?

How did I research the book?
Many of the issues I deal with in the book are ones that have come up in my own life or in the life of a friend or family member. I also gathered some information from women through social media, trying to get a feel for how many people felt the same way I did. The number was astounding. As for the remedies to these situations, I needed only turn to the Word of God for those. There is a fair amount of Scripture throughout the book because I feel that the Bible contains the answer to any and all of life's problems. We simply need to know where to look.

What's next for me?
I am starting on a book project unlike anything I've ever done. The trilogy will be a Christian fantasy series based on Merlin the Magician and will contain a blend of myth, legend and Biblical truths. The majority of the storyline of the first two books will take place in Bible times after the teenager, Merlin, accidentally sends himself, along with young Prince Arthur, back in time. In book one, the traveling duo searches out Jesus in hopes that this “Man of Miracles” can send them home. Book two jumps even further back in time, but the rest of the details of that story are a bit of a secret right now. Finally, in book three, Merlin and Arthur return back to their time, but many things have changed, especially Merlin himself.  I have a true love of Camelot legends, so I am very excited about this project. Book one is already planned out, and Lord willing, I'll begin writing it within the month. Hopefully, books two and three won't be far behind!

About the Book:
Many of us in the body of Christ are living below our privileges as sons and daughters of God. We yearn for more in our experience with Him but don’t know what’s missing. In A Widow’s Might, Judy Knox reveals the missing element and explains how to get it.

Losing her husband due to complications following heart surgery could have been devastating. Instead, Judy’s ten weeks with him in the hospital ICU became a turning point, where she turned from her own strength to God’s. And when after fifty-one years, she suddenly found herself alone, she realized she was not alone at all. God was walking the path with her.

Judy will help you get more out of your relationship with God by showing you how to:
  • hear and know God’s voice
  • infuse your life with the power of the Holy Spirit
  • enjoy your freedom as a new creation in Christ
  • conquer negative thoughts and emotions
  • win your spiritual battles

Her stories illustrate these serious truths in a light-hearted way. Whether you’re a new believer or a seasoned Christian, the fresh insights in Judy’s message will energize your walk with God.

My review:
Judy Knox shares her experience after being a married woman for most of her life and thinking she had a healthy faith to realizing duringa  medical crisis that healthy faith did not equate to a healthy relationship with her Lord and Savior. From the opening chapters in which the author deals with the eventual passing of her husband to her journey to joy, Knox writes of her gradual transformation into a woman of God who delights in knowing Him and being known.

Each chapter opens with a thematic verse, a discovery about its relevance and background such as why light is such an integral part of growth, discipline in developing uninterrupted intimate time with the Lord, and learning to hear, see, and rely on Him everywhere at even the seemingly most insignificant moments.

Just as importantly, Knox did not leave her husband behind as she began life anew and looked to the future. She did not dwell in the past, or make a shrine to his memory, but she did keep him in her heart and thoughts, even considering what he would have done or advised in a given situation.

The lessons she shares about walking as a faithful Christian growing more spiritually aware and mature include guarding our hearts and minds, our words, the example we are to others, even in our thoughts and resulting actions.

Included is a list of books and articles with comments about them in a Resources section.
Good for anyone who wants to develop a closer relationship with God.

The publisher is offering a giveaway of the book. Info below:

Judy A. KnoxJudy Knox, a retired high school teacher, now teaches Christians how to get more from their relationship with God. Recently widowed, she resides most of the year in northern Illinois near her married son and daughter and six grandchildren, and flies south to Arizona for the winter months. Avalon by Vanessa Morgan
Non-fiction, memoir
105 pp
June, 2015

From the publisher:
Some cats need nine lives to make a difference. Avalon only needed one.

From Amazon bestselling author Vanessa Morgan, Avalon is the heartwarming and once-in-a-lifetime love story of a girl and her neurotic Turkish Van cat.

With humor, the author details how Avalon made other creatures cringe in distress whenever he was around, how he threw her dates out by means of special techniques, and how he rendered it almost impossible for her to leave the house. Avalon was so incorrigible that even her landlord ordered her to get rid of him. But beneath Avalon's demonic boisterousness, Vanessa recognized her own flaws and insecurities, and she understood that abandoning Avalon would be the worst she could do to him. Thanks to her unswerving loyalty, Avalon transformed into a tender feline, and even landed a major role in a horror movie. In turn, Avalon made it his mission to be there for his human companion.

By turns jubilant and deeply moving, Avalon is a memoir for anyone who has ever been obsessively in love with a pet.

My review:

Vanessa Morgan is a Belgian and author and screen writer.
Anyone who quotes Dean Koontz as an epigraph gives you a certain expectation.
You’d think Europeans would have a different take on animal obsession, but apparently not. Even after visiting Greece and Turkey last summer where cats roam at will and become beloved but not possessed by locals, it’s apparent that kitty love exists on a different plane of reality.

Morgan writes the memoir of a twelve-year relationship with a found feline in her neighborhood in Belgium where she lives and works. Her cat love for the rare species of Turkish Van helps her see her life and career through different eyes. On one hand Morgan uses Avalon, the cat, to excuse difficult relationships with people, and on the other, she uses him to realize and bring out the qualities of love and self-fulfillment she has buried within her.

Told in first person, real time. Recommended for those who like true pet stories, from bringing the critter home, through antics, feeding, and all the difficult choices one makes regarding lifestyle and life end.

About the Author:

Vanessa Morgan is an author, screenwriter, and blogger. Two of her works, The Strangers Outside and A Good Man, have been turned into films. Her short film script Next to Her is currently in pre-production. When she's not working on her latest book, you can find her reading, watching horror movies, digging through flea markets, or photographing felines for her blog Traveling Cats. http://travelling-cats.blogspot.com/ She lives in Belgium.
